SHANCE WEEK 2016

Shance Week was an event organized on Twitter, held (judging by my files) from November 11 to November 18, 2016. It focused on the ship between Shiro and Lance from Voltron Legendary Defender. I no longer remember who organized this event.

I can't remember the themes for each day and I'm not even completely sure these are the drawings I made for the week. To be honest, I'm just making this page because a friend made a tweet that made me feel nostalgia for this ship. Yes, I wanted to give shance a chance once!!! Anyway, enjoy this crusty old art log.

My art for the event

Voltron Legendary Defender fan art. Lance, a thin tall young man with short dark hair, wearing a long-sleeved shirt, and Shiro, a tall muscular man with black hair in a buzz cut with a tuft of slightly longer hair at the front that's gone white, wearing a dark tight body suit under a sleeveless black jacket and a prosthetic right arm. Lance approaches Shiro from behind, grabbing Shiro by his prosthetic arm to stop him. He sweats profusely, looking down and cracking a smile as he nervously says 'Shiro, ah, w-wait. There's something I want to. Uh.' Shiro stares at the hands grabbing at him in silence.

Lance wants to confess! Or something.

Voltron Legendary Defender fan art. Shiro, wearing soldier armor, walks around a woodsy area with his prosthetic arm up as if it was a weapon, his hand glowing with power. He holds his helmet with his other arm as he scans the area with a cold look on his face. Lance is seen in the background hiding on a higher spot near a small waterfall, holding a couple branches as camouflage. He smiles at the viewer, throwing a peace sign with his left hand.

Some kind of AU where Shiro is a Galra Empire soldier and Lance is on the run from them.

I still think this is my best, cutest Shiro drawing.

Voltron Legendary Defender fan art. A parody illustration of Disney's Tarzan, specifically the scene where Tarzan presses Jane's head to his chest to let her hear his heartbeat. Shiro takes Tarzan's place, his hair wild and long, a beard covering his jawline, his skin tanned from years living in the wild. Lance takes Jane's place, wearing a version of her outfit that changes her explorer dress into a short-sleeved jacket and shorts outfit. Shiro blissfully holds Lance close to him while Lance peeps at Shiro's ample chest with a blush on his face, one hand held up in a dainty motion.

I was really channeling my desire for asian characters to be hairy and tan on this one lol. They both look very cute.

Voltron Legendary Defender fan art. Lance and Shiro stand next to each other, nude, with their backs to the viewer. Lance has his hand on Shiro's shoulder, seemingly to call his attention as he says something to him with a serious look on his face. Shiro's body is covered in thin scars, while Lance has one massive scar covering most of his back.

I think the theme for this one might have been scars. I always really liked that scene with Lance getting blown away by an explosion, which is why I drew that scar on him (maybe).

Voltron Legendary Defender fan art. A two-panel comic. In the first panel, Lance is shown reaching out towards the viewer, laughing openly. Some characters are visible in the background, dancing. In the second panel, Shiro stands staring blankly, an arrow hitting him right where a cartoonish heart is drawn on his chest with a 'thunk!' sound effect.

Don't like this drawing, except for the flowers.

Voltron Legendary Defender fan art. Shiro seems to be asleep, shirtless and without his prosthetic arm. A dark blue hand reaches down to touch his hair.

I was probably pretty exhausted so I ended the week with a doodle. I really loved adding noise to my drawings back then, didn't I?
